Kurzfassung
Our approach: long-term thinking, deep specialisation across the team, and the principle that if we take something on, we do it properly.
Our knowledge work is craftsmanship
Why are we interested in the relationship between craftsmanship and industry? Quite simply, the question is: what happens to knowledge work? What is its industrial revolution? Our knowledge work is, in a sense, our craftsmanship – and it is "Made in Germany".
The world is in motion, and so are the sectors in which we work. Many industries have been overtaken by technological developments and globalisation. Many of our own areas will face the same fate. Take payroll and financial accounting as an example. For many small and mid-sized tax advisory firms, this is the calculable and continuous backbone of their business. But the automation of these processes is already well advanced and continues to evolve. The remaining human work is already being shifted globally within many large corporations. There are several reasons for this, including price.
We prefer to act, not react
Even if we are not quite there yet, we have been examining this and many related topics for several years. We bear responsibility for many employees and clients, and our decisions must always reflect this long-term perspective. That is why we prefer to act rather than react or wait until it is too late.
Specialisation, not shrinking
One option would have been to focus on a single topic and gradually shrink into a mono-thematic specialist boutique. We chose a different path: some time ago, we began investing heavily in the specialisation of all our employees. Today, we could already – as soon as market-ready offerings for a "new accounting" exist – plan, design and coordinate the process for our clients. Above all, we already master the most important specialist fields and the consulting-intensive topics and areas. These will not be "industrialised" any time soon. They are the distinctive craftsmanship.
Large enough — and small enough
Why can we do this? We have come to the conclusion that we are large enough to invest in knowledge, large enough to offer competitive prices, and large enough to filter and assess the truly remarkable flow of ongoing professional information. At the same time, we are small enough never to find ourselves in the position of having to send our clients a B team – neither when signing a contract nor when terminating one. If we cannot do something, we do not do it.
Large enough
- to keep investing in knowledge
- to offer competitive prices
- to filter and assess the flood of information
Small enough
- never to send you a B team
- to stay personally accountable
- to say “no” when something is not for us
One step ahead, on principle
Look at it the other way around: we have committed ourselves to staying one step ahead of the competition, to adapting our service portfolio to the requirements of our clients, and to pushing further specialisation.
We will continue along this path. You will benefit from it, whether you are a prospective or an existing client.
